MINI is considered a British icon of the 1960's appearing in the Italian job and other films cemented this. The MINI began its life in 1959 and was later voted the 2nd most influential car of the 20th century just behind the Model T.
The lay out of the front wheel drive system meant that over 80% of the floor plan could be used for passengers and luggage and has influenced a generation of car makers and designers.
The MINI of course has had a glorious rallying career in its life, winning the Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 to 1967, although it was disqualified in 1966 after the finish, along with 6 other British cars, but we did win the world cup that year.
The MINI really is an institution in Britain; the low ground clearance and peppy engine means they really feel like a GoKart for the motorway. Over the years the MINI has had many names and has been branded under many different companies including, Morris and Austin.
